Plans and Pricing

Geoflip’s pricing is designed to accommodate a variety of users, from casual testers to high-demand professionals. With a Free Account for limited access and a Pro Account for unlimited usage, Geoflip provides flexibility based on your needs. Pricing is based on Geoflip Transformation Units (GTUs), which measure the resources used per request, including request size, transformations, and output format. For high-volume users, Geoflip offers a tiered pricing model, making it cost-effective as usage increases, with rates as low as $0.03 per GTU.

Account Types

Geoflip offers two account levels, each designed to meet different access and usage needs. These account types provide flexibility for users based on their requirements, whether they are exploring the service on a small scale or need high-frequency, professional-level access to Geoflip’s full range of capabilities.

Free/Basic Account

free account

The Free (or Basic) account level is ideal for users who are just getting started or who have light, occasional geoprocessing needs. This account provides:

  • Access: Full access to the Geoflip API, allowing users to test all functionality without restrictions on available endpoints or features.
  • Limitations: Limited to 30 requests total, providing an opportunity to explore Geoflip’s geoprocessing capabilities without committing to a paid plan. This is a great option for testing workflows, trying out transformations, and assessing how well Geoflip meets specific project needs.

Pro Account

pro account

The Pro Account level is suited for users with more intensive geospatial processing requirements who need ongoing, unlimited access to Geoflip’s tools. This account offers:

  • Access: Full, unrestricted access to the Geoflip API, including all endpoints and features.
  • No Request Limits: Unlike the Free account, the Pro account does not impose a limit on the number of requests. This is beneficial for users who have regular or high-volume processing needs.
  • GTU-Based Pricing: Pro account users are billed based on Geoflip Transformation Unit (GTU) consumption, enabling scalable pricing that reflects the actual resources used each month. Pro users benefit from a tiered GTU pricing model, with per-unit costs decreasing as usage increases, providing a cost-effective solution for high-frequency or large-scale geoprocessing.

These account options allow users to select the plan that best aligns with their project scope and frequency of usage, providing both accessible entry-level access and a robust, flexible option for professional-grade geoprocessing.

Geoflip Enterprise

For organizations interested in deploying Geoflip on their own internal servers, Geoflip Enterprise offers a solution tailored for secure, on-premises use. Geoflip Enterprise will allow organizations to leverage Geoflip’s powerful geoprocessing capabilities within their own network and infrastructure, ensuring data privacy and compliance with internal security protocols.

Pricing

Geoflip API pricing is based on Geoflip Transformation Units (GTUs), which are calculated according to the complexity and size of each request. GTU consumption depends on factors like request size, transformation type, and output format.

What are GTUs?

GTU stands for Geoflip Transformation Unit, a standardized measure of resource usage in Geoflip’s API. GTUs quantify the processing demand of each request, including factors like data size, transformations, and output format. By basing charges on GTU consumption, Geoflip ensures that users only pay for the resources they use, providing a scalable and transparent pricing model.

How GTUs Are Calculated

Pricing Illustration

GTUs are calculated based on the following components:

  1. Request Size: Charges increase with data size, reflecting the extra processing required for larger datasets.

    • Base Cost: 1 GTU is charged for the first 5MB of data.
    • Additional Cost: Each additional MB over the initial 5MB incurs an extra 1 GTU.
  2. Transformations: Geospatial operations incur GTU costs based on complexity, allowing users to pay proportionately for processing-heavy transformations.

    • Dissolve: 1 GTU per dissolve.
    • Buffer, Clip, or Erase: 2 GTUs per operation.
    • Union: 3 GTUs per union.
    • Reprojection: No GTUs are charged for reprojection, as this is provided free of charge.
  3. Output Format: Different output formats incur varying GTU costs depending on the complexity and resources required.

    • GeoJSON: 1 GTU.
    • GPKG: 2 GTUs.
    • DXF: 2 GTUs.
    • SHP: 3 GTUs.

Why GTUs?

GTUs give users control over costs by accurately reflecting the processing resources required. For smaller or simpler requests, GTU consumption remains low, while larger, more complex transformations consume more units. This flexible model adapts to the needs of all users, from occasional users to those processing large-scale datasets, enabling fair and predictable cost management across varying usage levels.

GTU Pricing Tiers (Monthly)

Geoflip applies tiered pricing based on monthly GTU consumption, rewarding higher-volume users with reduced rates:

  • < 500 GTU: $0.07 per GTU.
  • < 2500 GTU: $0.05 per GTU.
  • > 2500 GTU: $0.03 per GTU.

This tiered pricing structure helps manage costs effectively, making Geoflip accessible to a range of users, from small-scale projects to large enterprise-level applications.
